AI2Q • Alex M. Mendelsohn
Pilot - North America (East Coast)

AI2Q, Alex, has been licensed and active since 1959, where he was originally assigned the callsign WV2IKT, and later WA2IKT. Living on the coast of Maine, Alex was employed as an electronics-engineering editor for the past 33 years, serving as editor-in-chief of Integrated Circuits Magazine, EE Product News, and Portable Design Magazine. He holds a baccalaureate degree from Hofstra University.

Alex is an ardent CW operator, and a member of the First Class CW Operators Club. He especially enjoys sending with a vintage 1938 Theodore McElroy semi-automatic key. He is also a DX chaser, holding a 160M DXCC Certificate as well as an all-band mixed DXCC with 323 countries confirmed. Alex operates all HF bands.

In his spare time, Alex enjoys building his own equipment. His most recent project was the construction of a G3XJP STAR Software Transmitter and Receiver, which is now his primary rig, along with a homebrew solid-state MOSFET multi-band 600W amplifier.

These days, Alex enjoys long walks with his malamute dog Smokey (the second operator), as well as tinkering with his 1946 MG TC and 1960 Austin Healey 3000 sports cars. He also likes hiking and sailing.
