Markus was born in 1964 in central Switzerland and is happily partnered. He was educated in business administration at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and has spent most of his professional life working as a controller and transfer pricing specialist for several Swiss banks. He has also directed a department at his university for several years.
Markus was first licensed for the VHF bands in 1985 with the call HB9SRG and upgraded to a full license with the call HB9DIZ in 1986. He has been active in USKA's Lucerne club (HB9LU) since 1982 and has also served as secretary, treasurer, editor and web editor for many years. He is member of USKA, Swiss DX Foundation (SDXF) and honorary member of HB9LU.
HB9DIZ is not on the air very much, because he spends most of his time doing background activities for his club. Markus knows the value of a well maintained website. His activities for HB9LU are valued among the club's members, the Swiss regional clubs and even the national club. He enjoys the widespread panorama of activities for ham radio operators that can be combined perfectly with many other hobbies.
Beside amateur radio Markus is interested in exploring Swiss fortifications.
