HB9DWL • Leo Marbach
QSL Manager
Leo was born in 1935 in Emmenbrücke. He is married to Hermine and they have three children: Philipp, Guido and Rita.
After an apprenticeship as tire vulcanizer, he started working for himself. For 20 years he managed a cleaning business and later a sugar factory until he went into retirement in 1997. From then on, Leo finally had time for his hobbies: ham radio, hiking and traveling.
Leo became a SWL with the call HE9JFP in 1984, and six years later he earned the amateur license HB9MAL and in the following year HB9YAL. When almost 70 years old, Leo mastered Morse Code and received his current call HB9DWL. From then on, using RTTY he participated in contest after contest, earning award after award.
Leo is on the bands almost daily where you can find him using digital modes, SSB or CW. He is a member of the USKA branch club in Lucerne (HB9LU) where he is the QSL manager, and he is also a member of the Swiss DX Foundation (SDXF)

 According to the "World Lighthouse On The Air" Program, there is a lighthouse on Côn Có Island that is valid for WLOTA awards. We have been informed that QSOs with 3W6C will be valid for WLOTA #2557 after receipt of validation. Read more on the WLOTA program on their web site. |
