HB9BXE • Hans-Peter Blaettler
Team Leader, On-Island Operator, Head CW Operator
Hans-Peter, HB9BXE, is 60 years old. He is married to Maya, and they have a daughter, Gabriela, and son, Philipp. Hans-Peter is a development engineer and works for a company that manufactures electronic components. In fact, most of his amateur radio equipment is homebrew.
Licensed in 1978, he enjoys DXing and contesting, mostly on CW. He is a lifetime member of the Swiss DX Foundation (SDXF), president and honorary member of USKA's Lucerne club (HB9LU), member of USKA, HTC, and he is on the DXCC Honor Roll.
Hans-Peter has operated as HBØBXE, VK4BXE, 5H1BP (IOTA AF-Ø32) and XV4BX (IOTA AS-128). He was a member of the 3B7RF Expedition in 1998, team leader for the 3B6RF Expedition in 2001 and member of the 3YØX Expedition to Peter I in 2006.
In 2004 he was QRV from top of Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak, 5895 meters ASL. Probably this is the first successful DXpedition to EU from Africa's highest mountain with more than 50 DX QSOs.

 According to the "World Lighthouse On The Air" Program, there is a lighthouse on Côn Có Island that is valid for WLOTA awards. We have been informed that QSOs with 3W6C will be valid for WLOTA #2557 after receipt of validation. Read more on the WLOTA program on their web site. |
