News & Content W7QC • Steve Buroker Pilot - North America (West Coast)
Steve was first licensed in 1954 at age 12 receiving the call W7VMF, and in 1996 he took over his father's call, W7QC. He has two grown sons whom he continues to try and get interested in ham radio. When operating, Steve currently focuses almost exclusively on CW. He's a life member of the ARRL and also belong to the QCWA, FOC and A-1 operators clubs. Steve graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Boeing for 14 years, had his own software company for 15 years and retired from Microsoft in 2005. In addition to ham radio, Steve loves to program and spends as much time on the computer as on the radio. He also loves to hike and is out almost every weekend climbing mountains and trying to keep in shape. Steve also brews his own beer.
