XV9DX • Michal Horecky
On-Island Operator, Local Support (Vietnam)
Michal was born in 1977 in Bratislava. He is single and is employed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic in the Department of Information Technologies. Nowadays, he works for the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Hanoi, Vietnam.
He was first licensed in 1992 as OK3ZJW, later OM3ZJW and OM2DX. He enjoys DXing and contesting, mostly on CW. He is a member of EUDXF, OKDXF, SARA and the OM3Kii VHF contest team. His father is Steve, OM3JW. Michal is a globetrotter who has visited more than 80 countries.
Since 1997 he has participated in various expeditions. He was active as HBØ/OM2DX, 5Z4/OM2DX, YI9X, YI/OM2DX as well as from some islands including TK/OM2DX and ID9/OM2DX. He was an organizer of the very successful expedition to Palestine E4/OM2DX in 2007. He has also been a guest operator at 4U1ITU, JR6VSP and YI1BGD. Now he is active from Vietnam using the calls XV9DX and 3W1M in contests.

 According to the "World Lighthouse On The Air" Program, there is a lighthouse on Côn Có Island that is valid for WLOTA awards. We have been informed that QSOs with 3W6C will be valid for WLOTA #2557 after receipt of validation. Read more on the WLOTA program on their web site. |
