XV9TH • Torsten Hjalmarsson
On-Island Operator, Local Support (Vietnam)
Born in Sweden in 1942, Torsten has been living in Vietnam since 1991 and is married to Quynh Huong. He was educated as a marine engineer and sailed around the world on various ships for more than a decade.
Torsten was licensed in Sweden 1981 with the callsign SM7NFB. In 1991, he received his Vietnamese license XV7TH, which was later changed to XV9TH. In general, he operates mostly SSB and likes to participate in contests such as the CQWW, WPX and Russian Contest. Torsten now lives in a flat in Hanoi where he can only have a small magnetic loop antenna on the balcony and works mostly PSK31.

 According to the "World Lighthouse On The Air" Program, there is a lighthouse on Côn Có Island that is valid for WLOTA awards. We have been informed that QSOs with 3W6C will be valid for WLOTA #2557 after receipt of validation. Read more on the WLOTA program on their web site. |
